The video element could be as simple as a single static camera that provides a recording of the gig - normally a wide angle shot showing the entire band, taken from the mix position. The other end of the scale could be a multi camera setup professionally edited after the event that could be sold to fans at future gig, or sold via the internet. As long as the band are not signed to a record label, we can handle the various licenses (PRS/MCPS) that enable your music to be sold legally. For prestige events we can offer live production services with video screens and a live video mixer.

The equipment we use allows live recording of each individual sound source, that can then be mixed, balanced and treated in post production to enable you to produce a live CD, that can be sold or used a promotional tool.

COSTS

The thing to remember is that the major cost in producing sound, video and recordings is people! A small sound only PA hire that involves just one person and less equipment will be substantially cheaper than a major gig that needs perhaps 4 people and take double the time to set up and remove at the end of the event. You also need to keep in mind that if editing or mixing is required after the event, this also impacts on cost.

MAKING MONEY FROM CDs and DVDs.

Don’t forget that many bands nowadays have a loyal fan base, so having CDs and DVDs you can sell at gigs, and maybe via the internet can generate you money. For years, dance schools have recorded their large expensive to produce shows and financed them by video sales. The music industry is very different, but there are opportunities to make money, and most importantly market your band.
